Make a Pike Trace
From scratch, here's an easy method of making a pike trace...
This example has two trebles, you can of course have less, or more. You could also make a spinning trace with ease by substituting the end treble for a snap link.
The finished trace can be easily stored as shown in the first image.
Step 1
Cleanly cut the trace so that there are no 'split ends'. Pass the end through a crimp, then a swivel and then back through the crimp.
Step 2
Then tie a single 'granny knot' in the loose end of the trace.
Step 3
Tighten by pull with a pair of pliers.
Step 4
Pass the loose end back through the swivel.
Step 5
Gently pull the main trace through the crimp, leaving a small loop at the swivel.
Step 6
Squeeze the crimp closed onto the wire. Be firm but don't crush.
Step 7
Slide another crimp up the trace and repeat the process above. Don't close the crimp yet.
Step 8
Then using the same process as with the swivel, attach the end treble.
Step 9
Position the mid treble to your liking and close the crimp as before.
Step 10
Coil it around your fingers, leaving about 3 or 4 inches of the swivel end. Pas this through the coil a few times to hold it together.
