Hair Rig a Prawn

A stunning bait for Carp, Tench, Chub, Barbel and even Bream is Cooked Prawns.

One of the best ways to fish prawns is on a hair rig. Here's How To Do It...

Cooked peeled prawns are not expensive and can be bought in bags of 200g to a kilo. I find that a bag of 500g is plenty for a day.

Set yourself up with a Korum Quick Stop on a hair rig (see step 2) and with whatever method you like whether it's Pole, Method, Paternoster etc.

The steps below were using a Method feeder on a paternoster with a Kamasan B911 Extra Strong size 16 spade end hook.

It's a good idea to keep them chilled during the day. A cool box with a freezer block or ice inside.

Step 1

Cooked Peeled Prawns and a Korum Quick Stop Baiting Needle...

Step 2

Set up a Quick Stop on a How to make a Hair Rig and insert the Baiting Needle as shown...

Step 3

Push the Quick Stop through the Prawn from the head end...

Step 4

Come through a little after mid way.
Notice the spade of the hook (eye if your using eyed hooks) is going to push into the prawn as the quick stop pushes right through...

Step 5

Ease the Quick Stop off the needle and pull the needle out...

Step 6

Seat the bend of the hook into the head end of the prawn so that much of the bend is masked...

Step 7

Now the the hook bait is sorted, here's what I do with the feeder...
Add a few prawns to the feeder...

Step 8

Cover the feeder in method mix or your preferred groundbait...

Step 9

Mould the groundbait around the feeder...
READY TO FISH
