Bread Mash for the Method Feeder
A much ignored bait today is bread.
As a youngster, bread often featured in a days fishing, mainly because it was free (if I nabbed it from Mum's bread bin) and it was very effective and versatile...
There are plenty of different ways of fishing bread including, crust, flake, paste etc but what about in a feeder as well as on the hook?
In this How To, I'm going to show you part of a real favourite method of mine that I've used for at least 20 years and to great effect on both still waters and rivers.
The second part for this method is Bread Flake on a Hair Rig.
Step 1
Prior to your days fishing, visit the local supermarket and ask for sliced bread that's out of date. It should cost only a few pence a loaf...
Tear the slices up, including the edges as shown below.
Step 2
Add water just like making groundbait...
The bread will soak up quite well, so be generous
Step 3
Thrash the mix using your fingers as a whisk. Really beat it up...
Step 4
You should end up with something like this...
Step 5
The squeeze the mash through your fingers and reduce the 'lumps' edges as much as possible...
Step 6
Until you get something like this...
Step 7
Prepare a Method Feeder, This one is nice and light for sensitivity. Something heavier will be needed for flowing water...
Step 8
Form the Bread Mash around the feeder...
Have a wet cloth on hand as it's a really messy job
Step 9
With the addition of bait on the hook, it's Ready to cast...
